How to Use Passwords

Bingo VPN provides a secure way to share VPN access with team members through passwords. This guide explains how to create, manage, and share passwords.

Password List of a VPN Server

Creating a Password

  1. Navigate to your VPN server details page
  2. Click the "Passwords" tab
  3. Click the "New Password" button
  4. In the modal dialog:
    • Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Marketing Team Access")
    • Set bandwidth limit if needed
    • Set transfer limit if needed
    • Click "Create"

Managing Passwords

Viewing Password Details

  1. In the password list, find the password you want to manage
  2. Click the info icon (ℹ️) to view details
  3. The details panel shows:
    • Connection information
    • Usage statistics
    • QR code for easy mobile setup

Monitoring Usage

For each password, you can monitor:

  • Total data transfer
  • Active/inactive status

Password Status

Passwords can be in one of these states:

  • 🟢 Active: Password is currently usable
  • 🔴 Inactive: Password has been disabled

Security Features

Bandwidth Control

  • Set bandwidth limits (MB/s or GB/s)
  • Monitor real-time bandwidth usage
  • Automatically enforced by the system

Transfer Limits

  • Set monthly transfer limits (GB or TB)
  • System tracks total data transfer
  • Automatic deactivation when limit is reached

Access Control

  1. Enable/disable passwords instantly
  2. View connection history
  3. Revoke access at any time

Share Control

  • Create share links for passwords
  • Each password has a unique share code
  • Disable sharing at any time

Important Note About Sharing

When you share a password:

  1. Users who receive the share link can view the connection details (host, password, etc.)
  2. Even after disabling sharing, users who already have the connection details can still connect
  3. To completely prevent access:
    • Disable the password using the toggle switch, or
    • Delete the password entirely

Best Practices

Password Naming

  • Use descriptive names (e.g., "Marketing Team - Feb 2025")
  • Include purpose or team name
  • Add expiration date if applicable

Security Guidelines

  1. Regularly review active passwords
  2. Set appropriate bandwidth and transfer limits
  3. Disable unused passwords
  4. Use secure channels to share password information

Troubleshooting

If users cannot connect:

  1. Check if the password is active
  2. Verify bandwidth and transfer limits
  3. Ensure server is operational
  4. Check if user has correct connection settings
